Sexual slavery without borders: trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation in India

For this article, the authors reviewed 261 articles to provide an overview of human trafficking and prostitution in India, a country with some of the highest rates of human trafficking in the world. It includes a wealth of useful statistics, not only regarding how many people are victims of trafficking in within, to, and from India; but also pertaining to the different types of trafficking and sexual slavery, which Indian states display the highest incidence of these types, prevalence of STIs among Indian sex workers, and more. The article suggests potential methods of reducing these human rights violations, as well as addressing the obstacles facing those who attempt to implement such methods. Overall, it provides the reader with a greater understanding of the sheer magnitude of the human trafficking problem in India.
