National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking

Human trafficking in Canada is difficult to determine, but the statistics bellow provide some information in the year 2012:

“•25 convictions (41 victims)

• 56 cases are before the courts, which include at least 85 accused and 136 victims.

•They were around 26 of victims that were under the age of 18 at the time of the alleged offence.

•Over 90% of the cases include domestic human trafficking; The 10% remaining involved individuals being brought to Canada from another country.

•3 charges are under section 118 of IRPA, which prohibits trafficking into Canada.
